Old Kettle & Mug.... Oil

I started this piece sometime last week, and left it hanging. I decided to finish it up so i worked on the mug yesterday. I have to figure out what to do with the backgound as i've way too much space at the top.

I'll probably post the finished piece soon as I want to get rid of the set up>> now there's a reason to finish a painting :p

Sorry about all the shadows in the photo, you'd think i'd have gotten a little better at photographing paintings by now. I guess practice doesn't always make perfect.

I laid out this tea setting more than a week ago (u can imagine how dry that lemon is) for a small oil. looked it over yesterday and i just had to do it in wc.

As oils are a little stressful for me right now with trying for more discipline and all, this wc has been a dream, loved every second of it!

a well spent-relaxing- couple of hours.

I haven't worked on this as much as I'd have liked but it is coming along...

I worked a bit on my egg still which i started last night.

It's very interesting how things are sometimes so very clear if we just look from a different perspective/angle. I felt funny about the little tea cup. Through the picture i see how clearly crocked it is!...

I'm trying to achieve a little more discipline in my work... I'm finding this really quite interesting; painting something as it is rather than how you choose to see it.. A different way of looking if you will.

I tried this is my last oil (turkish coffee) and was quite pleased with the result.

I also did a bit of an underpainting in both.

This piece is along way from being finished but i'm quite happy with how it's coming along.

It's also larger and a more elaborate than my spot pieces of late. I literally wandered the house room to room last night looking for something to wet my painting appetite & ended up throwing this set together.

Some of my very favorite paintngs are of simple still lifes... cezanne's "La pain et les oeufs- Bread & eggs " -one of his earlier works- is on top.
