waiting terminal

my apologies for not posting in so long.

It seem's like we're always waiting some where for some reason or another, only seemed appropriate to make a waiting painting. ;)

painting is: 30*90 cm

little ballerina

this little ballerina has a story.
this was inspired by a little girl (not so little now) of about 8 or 9 years, who asked me if her clothes made her look fat!
That really blew my mind as i hadn't realised till then, how crucial an issue weight struggles and body image have become to girls even at such tender ages. It's disheartening to think that our weight obsession (healthy or otherwise) in the adult world is robbing them of their childhood, of giving tea parties and playing ballerinas...

local siesta

40 × 50 cm.

lot's to say here, but i'm abit panicky about the "where to"& "how to get there" of painting...
I need to chill, maybe have a siesta.:p

Dorian Gray

It's been a while since i've done a book painting.

I was reading Oscar Wildes "the picture of Dorian Gray"

which ended up as part of the setup for this painting.

I'm not quite sure it's finished though. :p

NYSE

against my better judgment, i thought i'd have a go at artist karen jurick s' "different strokes from different folk" challange.
why against my better judgment? because i don't normally do so much detail in paintings,

and as it happens this weeks challange is a painting about the NY stock exchange! gazillion people, paper, screens.... AHHHHH.

needless to say i took much longer time - burn some neurons- painting than i normally do.

why don't i take some time- PLAN- the painting before jumping in with two feet i ask you, it would save me so much time problem fixing.

this was very interesting. I'm not exactly ecstatic about the out come, but i'm not unpleased either. so there. peace and out.

Forgive the poor -more like lack of - picture quality.
'practice makes perfect' doesn't seem to apply to my photographic skills. :p
