kitty and the red yarn

haven't posted since forever.

some bed time painting. didn't do the picture justice: no time no paint, alot of yawning.

this is way too realistic for me.

i thought i'd speed it up a bit painting upside down which also gives pretty accurate measurements. it works.

caraazul77 was kind enough to allow me to use of this great photo.

Days of Old...

the idea for this comes from brides & wedding celebrations in various cultures, where the celebrations include customs & costumes unique to each.

these may not be part of her daily modern life hence the expressionless face. moments when the wedding seizes to be about her wants and things must be done the proper way; the traditional way. She is transported back in time and she becomes her mother, her grandmother, an extention of a long line of women in her family...

all that yellow is actually GOLD, I couldn't get a decent picture ( i tried!).

i'm pretty sure this painting's done... hmm, it is hard to tell sometimes.

I'm having a grand time painting them and am likely to be stuck by the sea for quite some paintings to come...

my name is red. Oil

I just finished this one.

Still hung on reading paintings. Again painted from life.

Looks like i'm on my way to using all my books in painting set-ups :p

The book i used here is Turkish author Orhan Pamuks' "my name is red".

A very interesting read. highly recommend it.
